Trinidad Express senior investigative journalist, Denyse Renne, was assaulted and robbed in San Fernando on Monday.

Renne's assailant struck her on the head before escaping with $1,000.

A police report stated that at around 11.30 a.m. Renne was walking along St Vincent Street headed to King's Wharf when she was approached by a man.

Renne felt a blow to the back of her head and her purse was grabbed.

The man took out the cash and threw the purse back at her, then ran off.

Renne made a report to the San Fernando Criminal Investigation Department and has sought medical treatment.
