Trinidad and Tobago police seize narcotics worth nearly TT$200 million
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) declared an unwavering commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks following a significant seizure of narcotics valued at nearly TT$200 million (J$4.5 billion) in the southwest region of the country during the weekend.

Commissioner of Police, Erla Christopher, hailed the operation as a substantial triumph in the ongoing battle against illicit drugs.
Emphasizing the gravity of the seizure, Christopher underscored the TTPS’s resolute stance against drug-related offenses.
Details about the seizure
According to a TTPS statement, meticulous surveillance efforts culminated in a coordinated operation within the South Western Division.
Officers ventured into a dense, swampy forest area in Cedros, uncovering 67 crocus bags concealed in the terrain.
Each bag contained an assortment of high-grade marijuana and cocaine blocks, totaling approximately 1,521 kilograms of marijuana and 13.8 kilograms of cocaine.
Estimating street value
The confiscated marijuana, valued at TT$167 million, and cocaine, valued at TT$19.3 million, spotlight the magnitude of the illicit drug trade within Trinidad and Tobago’s borders.
The statement did not indicate whether any arrest had been made.
