Tortuga Music Festival returns, prompts setup and traffic preparations
As the much-anticipated Tortuga Music Festival gears up for its return to Fort Lauderdale Beach, preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and vibrant experience for attendees.
From April 5 to 7, the festival promises three days of music, food, and entertainment, drawing crowds to the scenic 1100 Seabreeze Boulevard venue.
Setup preparations underway
Anticipation builds as setup for the event kicks off with crews working from March 18 to 22 in the south side of the Fort Lauderdale Beach Park lot.
During this period, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, preparations will be in full swing, potentially impacting parking availability in the area.
Parking restrictions and closure schedule
Parking in the south side of the Fort Lauderdale Beach Park lot will be limited as setup progresses, with the lot fully reopening to the public on March 23 and 24.
However, from March 25 to 28, parking in the south side of the lot will again be closed as preparations continue.
Subsequently, from March 29 through the duration of the festival, the entire Fort Lauderdale Beach Park lot will be closed to the public, facilitating event operations.
Following the festival, closure will extend from April 8 to 11, with limited access to the lot from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
During these periods, attendees and locals are advised to plan alternative parking arrangements accordingly.
Navigating traffic impacts
Motorists traversing barrier island roadways, notably A1A and Seabreeze Boulevard, should anticipate delays due to increased festival-related traffic.
Additionally, congestion is expected on SE 17th Street and Las Olas Boulevard.
To mitigate disruptions, organizers have outlined road closures from Harbor Drive to Southeast 5th Street during peak festival hours, ensuring safe exit routes for attendees.
Alternative transportation encouraged
In light of parking limitations and anticipated traffic congestion, event organizers are encouraging attendees to explore alternative transportation options.
Rideshare services and the Water Taxi present convenient alternatives, with designated pick-up and drop-off locations including Las Olas Oceanside Park and the Harbor Drive loop.
By embracing these alternatives, attendees can contribute to reducing traffic congestion and enhancing the overall festival experience.
