The wait is over: Brightline reveals official launch date for service to Orlando

The much-anticipated Brightline service connecting South Florida to Orlando is set to launch on September 22.

This announcement comes after a delay from an earlier projected start.

Patrick Goddard, the president of Brightline, expressed his enthusiasm in a statement: “Opening Orlando fulfills our ultimate business model. We have seen incredible enthusiasm from the business and tourism industries eager to travel between Central and South Florida.”

“As we start service to Orlando for peak holiday seasons, I encourage everyone to check calendars, make plans, visit our website or app, and reserve a seat now,” he added.

Building the bridge between Miami and Orlando

A mere three months ago, Brightline wrapped up the construction of its railway line, bridging the distance between Miami and Orlando.

This project saw its Orlando station officially introduced to the public in April, followed by the commencement of ticket sales in May.

Navigating delays

Despite the excitement and buildup, a slight hiccup occurred in August. Originally, Brightline had intended to commence its inaugural rides from South Florida to Orlando on September 1st.

According to reports, this plan faced a delay, with the company opting to postpone.

The specific reason behind its decision was not disclosed.

This alteration in schedule prompted a response to passengers who had already reserved their tickets.

To compensate for the inconvenience, Brightline offered a package that included a complete refund, a complimentary PREMIUM voucher, and a discount offer from their car rental partner, AVIS.

Attractive fare packages

According to Brightline, for a limited time, one-way SMART fares will start at $79 for adults and $39 for children.

Groups of four or more will be eligible for an additional 25 per cent discount on these SMART fares, adding a touch of luxury to the journey with a business-class feel.

One-way PREMIUM fares start at $149, which provides a first-class experience with added amenities like access to their PREMIUM lounge, priority boarding, checked luggage, and complimentary snacks and beverages throughout the journey.
