Taylor expects West Indies Women to rise to Pakistan spin challenge

Former West Indies Women's captain, Stafanie Taylor, has expressed confidence in her team's ability to handle the spin challenge posed by Pakistan Women in the upcoming eight-match white-ball series set to commence on Thursday.

West Indies Women will engage in three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals against Pakistan Women from April 18 to May 3 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

Taylor believes that the Caribbean side possesses the necessary experience to counter Pakistan's spin bowling threat effectively.

Acknowledging the challenge posed by Pakistan's spinners, Taylor emphasized the importance of focusing on each ball and relying on the team's familiarity with spin bowling. She highlighted that the West Indies squad includes seasoned players with extensive experience facing spin, such as herself, captain Hayley Matthews, and vice-captain Shemaine Campbelle.

154 ODIs and 117 T20 Internationals

Taylor, with her vast experience of 154 ODIs and 117 T20 Internationals, along with Matthews and Campbelle, is expected to play a pivotal role in the team's batting line-up. Additionally, the presence of fast bowler Shamilia Connell and leg-spinner Afy Fletcher provides depth and experience to the bowling unit.

Having previously swept Pakistan 3-0 in their last series three years ago, Taylor expressed optimism about repeating their success in the upcoming series. She emphasized the importance of performing well in the series to improve their standing in the ICC rankings.

West Indies Women underwent a comprehensive week-long preparation camp in Dubai, which concluded last weekend. Head coach Shane Deitz affirmed that the team would now focus on applying the final touches before the opening match of the series.
