Tamarac Remembers 9/11 With Tribute to First Responders

The City of Tamarac will observe the 20th Anniversary of the events of Sept. 11, 2001, with a community tribute to first responders serving the City, while also remembering victims, survivors and heroes of that fateful day in U.S. history.

Tamarac’s “Honk for a Hero” Drive-Thru Tribute will be held at City Hall, 7525 NW 88th Avenue, on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 10:30 a.m. T

he entire community is invited to this free drive-thru event to honk their vehicle horns in gratitude for the first responders who serve Tamarac. Fire engines and police service vehicles will be showcased for the whole family to enjoy from the safety of their cars.

Attendees will receive a goody bag filled with community resources, fun gifts and New York Times best-seller, “I Survived the Attacks of September 11, 2001,” by Lauren Tarshis. One goody bag is available per vehicle, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Motorists may enter the City Hall parking lot from southbound Pine Island Road. Staff will guide drivers through the event area. Vehicle windows must remain up at all times while participating in the drive-thru.
