Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a threat was received, according to a preliminary statement from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

The incident began at approximately 11:45 a.m., when the Fort Lauderdale Police School Resource Officer was alerted to a threat at the campus, located at 1800 SW 5th Place. Officers immediately responded, and as of this writing, the scene remains active.

“In an abundance of caution, the school is currently on lockdown,” the department confirmed in a statement issued by Sergeant David Soika.

Authorities have not released details about the nature of the threat or whether any arrests have been made. There are currently no reports of injuries.

The media staging area has been designated at the north side of West Broward Blvd and SW 18th Avenue. However, no public information officer is on site at this time.
