In a released statement Mayor Rogers asked, “Are we engaging our community and are we prepared to go to the school board meeting on Tuesday March 5th ?”  To the resident of Broward County she said, “Now is the time to stand up in support of the good work Supt. Runcie is doing. You know your schools you know what has changed under his leadership for the better.”

Referring to the tragic 2018 Valentine’s day shooting at the high school in Parkland, Florida that took the lives of 17 students and staff members, the mayor said, “The horrific and tragic incident by someone who is mentally ill should not define his (Runcie) service and who we are in Broward County

“Please plan to spend all day at the school board. Please walk with your water and snack. We cannot leave that room without our presence and voice be heard and felt by all. This is our day of sacrifice.

“Thank you Board Member Osgood for your voice and now it is our time as a community. Let us show up and bring the troops.”
