ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Antigua and Barbuda's Governor General, Sir Rodney Williams, was presented with a copy of "Richie Richardson: The Man and the Legacy," during the official launch of the biography celebrating the former West Indies captain's contribution to regional cricket.

The biography, authored by Professor Densil Williams, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of UWI Mona Campus, highlights Sir Richie’s influential career and leadership on and off the cricket field.

During the ceremony held at Casa Palmadita in Fitches Creek, Sir Rodney praised Sir Richie for his enduring legacy in West Indies cricket, commending him for his calm, dignified leadership and his inspiration to many across the Caribbean.

Literary achievement

Sir Rodney also lauded Professor Williams for his literary achievement, noting that the biography immortalizes Sir Richie’s contributions for future generations.

The launch event brought together several notable figures, including Minister of Education, Sports, and Creative Industries Daryll Matthew, who joined in celebrating both the cricket legend and the academic excellence of Professor Williams.

The evening marked a fitting tribute to two outstanding Caribbean figures: Sir Richie, whose cricketing prowess and leadership shaped an era of West Indies cricket, and Professor Williams, whose work ensures that this legacy will be remembered and studied for years to come.
