Sha’Carri Richardson beats Shericka Jackson in Doha

Jamaica Observer- American Sha’Carri Richardson ran a meet record 10.76 seconds (0.9m/s) to beat Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson in the season opening Wanda Diamond League meeting in Doha on Friday.

The American stormed to the finish line, overtaking Jackson over the last 20 metres to take the world lead from Jackson who was second in 10.85 seconds. Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith was third in a season’s best 10.98 seconds.

Olympic Games bronze medallist Megan Tapper was fourth in the 100m hurdles in a season’s best 12.76 seconds (1.1m/s) while Candice McLeod and Stephenie Ann McPherson finished down the track in the women’s 400m.

McLeod was fifth in 52.43 seconds and Ann McPherson sixth in 52.93 seconds as Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic won with 50.51 seconds, beating American Shamier Little who clocked 50.84 seconds.
