The release marks another addition to a growing catalogue that blends reggae with soul and R&B, reflecting Sevana’s approach to creating Jamaican music while drawing on a range of musical influences. The singer, whose given name is Anna-Sharé Blake, hails from Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, and first gained wider attention through collaborations with fellow Jamaican artiste Protoje.

Her previous releases include the EPs Sevana (2016) and Be Somebody (2020), the latter featuring songs such as “If You Only Knew” and “Mango.” In 2024, she performed at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Texas, showcasing her music to an international audience.

“Fight Fi Di Love” is part of the No Better Riddim, a 16-track compilation produced by Marley and released through Ghetto Youths International. The project brings together Jamaican and international reggae and dancehall voices, including Romain Virgo, Alaine, Jaz Elise, Richie Spice, Queen Omega and Chino McGregor. Each artiste delivers a separate song over the shared musical foundation, a longstanding Jamaican production format known as a riddim.

The single is accompanied by an official music video, shot and edited by Filmaica. The visual features Sevana performing in an abandoned building and an open field, using the contrasting settings as a backdrop for the song’s message.

The track features Sean “Young Pow” Diedrick on keyboards, Elijah Marley on drums, Shiah Coore on bass and Ali Darvish on guitar. Sevana, Matthew Mahfood and Damian Marley share songwriting credits, with Marc Lee handling the mix and Dave Huffman the mastering.

The release follows a busy period for Sevana, who has also been pursuing acting projects alongside her music career. In September, she released “Jeans an’ Marina,” a single inspired by memories of community and togetherness in her hometown. She has also appeared in the biographical film Bob Marley: One Love and the British television series Possession, while taking on a starring role in the feature film Threads of Us.

With “Fight Fi Di Love,” the singer returns to a message centred on human connection, adding her voice to a collaborative project led by one of reggae’s prominent contemporary producers.
