Grade Six students at Priory Primary and Infant School in St. Ann were encouraged to look beyond their upcoming Primary Exit Profile (PEP) examinations and focus on their future aspirations during a vision board activity led by team members from Sandals Dunn’s River and Sandals Royal Plantation.

The activity gave students preparing for the March 2027 examinations an opportunity to reflect on their goals and ambitions through creative exercises using magazine clippings, words and images to illustrate their dreams, from future careers and academic achievements to personal milestones.

Principal Collin Hall welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the importance of building students’ confidence alongside their academic preparation.

“When children are given the opportunity to dream, they begin to understand that their circumstances today do not have to define their tomorrow,” Hall said. He added that such activities encourage students to believe in themselves, set goals and recognize that hard work and support can help them achieve their ambitions.

Representatives from both Sandals properties worked with the students throughout the session, encouraging them to consider what success meant to them and identify steps toward achieving their goals.

Keish Beckford, regional public relations coordinator for Sandals Dunn’s River, said the activity was intended to help students approach their examinations with confidence while maintaining a broader perspective on their futures.

“We wanted the students to understand that PEP is just one chapter in their story, not the entire story,” Beckford said. “It is important for them to prepare, work hard and give their best, but just as important is having the confidence to dream about where they want to go.”

Beckford said seeing the students translate their ideas into vision boards underscored the importance of encouragement and community support.

The completed boards will serve as visual reminders of the students’ ambitions as they prepare for PEP, which marks an important stage in their academic journeys.

The initiative emphasized that while examination preparation is important, students should also develop confidence in their abilities and remain focused on their long-term goals.
