The St James Municipal Corporation awarded Nigel 'Nigy Boy' Hector the '2024 Silver Montego Bay Sumfest City Award' for his outstanding achievement in the area of entertainment. The Visually impaired singer who is often dubbed Jamaica’s Stevie Wonder was recognized for his perseverance against all odds.

The reggae singer graced the sumfest stage for the first time wearing a space suit and delivered an out of this world performance which marks a historic step for reggae music and the visually impaired community in Jamaica.

Nigy Boy who is from Flankers Montego Bay says it was a proud moment for him "It is a privilege being here and I like how everything come full circle, that my first ever performance was where I come from.” During his performance, he recalled his first time attending Reggae Sumfest as an audience member and said it was nothing short of amazing that he was now performing on stage.

In addition to his entrance on the music scene Nigy Boy is also well accomplished in academics he graduated with a double Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and history with honors from Stony Brook University.

The 23 year-old artiste had a breakout single with Continent, produced by Tarik “Rvssian” Johnston, earlier this year. Since becoming a global superstar, Nigy has been globetrotting, performing in the United States, Guyana, St. Kitts, Bahamas, St. Lucia, Grenada, and Jamaica. The
