Rain disrupts West Indies Under-19s final warm-up match ahead of ICC World Cup

The West Indies Under-19 cricket team faced a setback in their preparations for the ICC Men's Under-19 Cricket World Cup as their second and final warm-up match against Nepal Under-19s was abandoned due to rain, resulting in a no-result.

The match saw only 10 overs being played, with the West Indies Under-19s reaching a score of 33 for one after being put in to bat at the St Stithians Main Oval. Unfortunately, the adverse weather conditions persisted, preventing any further play.

Out of the four warm-up matches scheduled on the third day of warm-up games leading up to the tournament, only one match produced a result, as Zimbabwe secured a 12-run victory against the United States under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method.

Dominant performance against New Zealand Under-19s

Prior to this disrupted warm-up match, the West Indies Under-19s were in high spirits following a dominant performance against New Zealand Under-19s, where vice-captain Nathan Sealy delivered an impressive spell, helping secure a morale-boosting six-wicket win. However, the rain-affected match against Nepal has now interrupted their final tune-up before the World Cup.

The West Indies Under-19s, who are aiming to secure their second ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup title, are scheduled to face the host nation, South Africa, in their opening match of the tournament. The match will take place this coming Friday at the J.B. Marks Oval in Potchefstroom, marking the beginning of their campaign in the World Cup.
