Passengers heading to Cruise Terminals AA, A, B, C and D should enter through the PortMiami Tunnel, while those travelling to terminals E, F, G, J and V should use the PortMiami Bridge.
Taxi drivers accessing the staging area across from Terminal C should use the tunnel and park in Lot 1. Those serving the staging area across from Terminal E should use the bridge and park in Lot 2. Rideshare companies and passenger motor carriers accessing their staging areas should enter through the tunnel.
The port will also continue working with GridMatrix, winner of the Miami-Dade Innovation Authority’s Public Innovation Challenge pilot project, to track congestion using artificial intelligence-powered computer vision technology. The system is intended to help officials predict traffic bottlenecks and develop data-driven responses.
Public safety and law enforcement personnel from PortMiami, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and the City of Miami Police Department will assist with traffic management along Biscayne Boulevard and in surrounding downtown areas on select dates.
Airport shuttles and alternative routes
In partnership with Carnival Cruise Line, PortMiami will launch a pilot program in October 2026 offering complimentary shuttle transfers to Miami International Airport for Carnival Celebration passengers on select dates.
The port will also continue Royal Caribbean Group’s complimentary airport shuttle program for passengers sailing aboard Icon of the Seas on select dates.
Other measures include using cargo roadways as alternative routes to ease congestion in downtown Miami and on surrounding highways, including I-395.
PortMiami will also continue coordinating with the Florida Department of Transportation, the City of Miami, Kaseya Center and other downtown stakeholders.
“Our traffic management initiatives reflect the County’s commitment to smarter mobility and the responsible use of innovation to keep people and goods moving safely,” Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said.
She also congratulated PortMiami Director Jonathan Daniels on leading the initiative during his first eight weeks in the role, alongside Deputy Mayor Roy Coley and Chief of Public Safety Arnold Palmer.
Miami-Dade County District 8 Commissioner and Aviation and Seaport Committee Chairwoman Danielle Cohen Higgins said the measures reflected the importance of working with residents, businesses and government partners to keep the port operating efficiently.
“As the world’s busiest cruise port, we recognize the responsibility that comes with welcoming millions of guests each year,” Daniels said. “These improvements help us reduce congestion, enhance safety and strengthen the overall journey from curb to cruise.”
The initiatives were developed in collaboration with federal, state and local agencies, cruise lines, transportation providers and community organizations.
PortMiami’s 2026-2027 cruise schedule includes new and returning vessels across several cruise lines, with ships such as Explora III and Scenic Eclipse scheduled for October 2026, Norwegian Aura for June 2027 and Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas for August 2027.
