Police arrest 11-year-old for allegedly carrying handgun to Florida school

An 11-year-old student was arrested after reportedly bringing a 9mm handgun to Beauclerc Elementary School in Jacksonville, Florida. 

Discovery of handgun

The discovery was made after three students alerted a teacher about the firearm.

Reports are that the child was seen in the bathroom racking the slide of the handgun and waving it around.

The child’s belongings were searched by school staff, who found the weapon.

It is reported that Duval School Board Police responded to the school. The officer found a text on the child’s phone threatening to kill someone sent the day before.

The child was detained at the Duval Regional Juvenile Detention Center, facing charges for possessing a weapon on school premises and issuing a written threat.
