An American Airlines journey turned somber last evening when an unforeseen medical emergency necessitated a sudden diversion to the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The incident occurred on flight AA 2790, en route from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, to Charlotte, North Carolina.

The calm of the flight was shattered when a 41-year-old female passenger suddenly fell ill.
