Monsignor Gregory Ramkissoon, founder of Mustard Seed Communities in Jamaica, was moved to tears during the ceremonial handover of the cheque. The donation surpassed the J$10 million raised by the Miami-based club during its inaugural tournament last year.

The 18-hole tournament was held at Redland Golf & Country Club, with the International Longshoremen’s Association, GraceKennedy Group, Couples Resorts and St. Lucia’s Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa serving as main sponsors. The event also received support from Caribbean nationals in South Florida.

Reflecting on the club’s two years of supporting the organization, Ramkissoon described Paquee Golf Club as a close friend of the mission.

“This team has a deep understanding of what it means to promise that we will never abandon a child. The Mustard Seed Communities is here to be the loving, lifelong home that every person deserves, and we are deeply grateful to have the Paquee family walking alongside us in providing care to hundreds of residents in Jamaica,” he said.

Mustard Seed Communities provides residential care for children and adults with disabilities, abandoned children and others unable to care for themselves. The organization serves more than 700 people across Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Malawi and Zimbabwe.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will primarily support the organization’s ongoing hurricane relief efforts.

The winning team comprised Steve Simm, Richard Roberts, Dr. Elias Feanny and Eric Weiss.

Paquee Golf Club has spent more than 30 years using golf to strengthen ties across the Caribbean diaspora. The club is now preparing to travel to Jamaica for a tournament with the Jamaica Buccaneers Club, continuing its tradition of building connections through the sport.
