The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department was selected by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) as a winner of a 2018 American Health + Wellness Design Award for several of its printed public communication tools.

The department’s Leisure Times and companion Park Guide brochure won in the public service and pro bono category.

Winning brochures

Several of the department’s brochures won in the brochures and collateral category including the Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park/Riverbend Park brochure, Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park/Riverbend Park School Field Trip brochure, Waterparksbrochure, Okeeheelee Nature Center brochure, and Okeeheelee Nature Center School Field Trip Guide.

The publications were designed in-house by department staff and serve to connect residents and visitors to opportunities for healthy, happy living to improve their quality of life. They were printed through the Palm Beach County Public Affairs Department’s Graphics Division.

The GDUSA 2018 awards focus on health and wellness, one of the fastest-growing segments of the economy. This competition takes in the big picture of healthcare including traditional medical industries, mental health, counseling, healthy lifestyles, public health and community education initiatives.  GDUSA has been an information source for graphic design professionals since 1963 and covers news, people, project trends, technology, products and services and hosts national design competitions that showcase graphic design, in-house design, web design, package design, and digital design.

Operates over 110 parks

The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, recognized nationally for excellence in park and recreation management, operates more than 110 parks and recreational facilities and provides organized recreational programs and services for people of all ages and abilities.
