North Miami man slapped with 161 molestation charges after girls come forward

A 52-year-old man from North Miami is facing 161 charges relating to lewd and lascivious molestation.

Edgar Augusto Gamez was arrested on Tuesday.

The charges stem from revelations by four girls who have reported instances of sexual abuse.

Victims speak out

Reports indicate that the victims were as young as 5 when they first endured the abuse by  Gamez.

According to reports, these young girls either lived in the same household or were frequent visitors to the family home where Gamez also resided.

The allegations unraveled when the first victim broke her silence on August 28, recounting two incidents from 2020.

This revelation prompted investigations that revealed three more victims, with some accusations tracing back to 2010.

A disturbing pattern

The arrest report reveals a chilling pattern in Gamez’s alleged actions.

Reports are that Gamez allegedly enticed them into his bedroom under the pretext of offering candy, only to then subject them to sexual abuse.

It is further reported that one girl reported being victimized at least once a week when she was between the ages of 5 and 8, spanning the years 2011 to 2014.

Gamez was arrested on Tuesday where he opted to exercise his right to remain silent.

Gamez was being held without bond in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday afternoon.
