In a historic milestone for South Dade, Amazon has officially opened its new 1-million-square-foot fulfillment center in Naranja, located in the heart of Miami-Dade County's District 9. The state-of-the-art facility, equivalent in size to 17 football fields, is set to employ over 1,000 local residents, offering high-quality jobs and contributing to the region's economic growth.

The grand opening marks a significant step in the collaboration between Amazon and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee. McGhee says “As part of The McGhee Plan 2025, this fulfillment center is one of many strategic initiatives that shows my ongoing commitment to creating employment opportunities designed to enhance the quality of life for South Dade residents. By securing large-scale investments and working with key stakeholders, we continues to position South Dade as a hub for innovation, business, and community development.”

The new fulfillment center will not only provide jobs but will also uplift the community with a variety of meaningful benefits for its employees. Workers will enjoy comprehensive healthcare, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) plan with a 50% company match, and wages that exceed the local living wage standard. In an effort to support continuing education, Amazon is offering guaranteed paid tuition for employees to pursue degrees at Miami Dade College, ensuring a pathway to both career advancement and personal growth.

"Bringing Amazon to Naranja is about more than just creating jobs—it's about providing dignity, pride, and opportunity to the people of South Dade," said Commissioner McGhee. "This fulfillment center will be a cornerstone of our community, offering employment that helps families thrive and encouraging lifelong learning through educational opportunities."

Amazon’s investment in Naranja goes beyond job creation. The company has partnered with the Economic Development Council of South Dade to foster long-term growth for the region.

"This is a victory for the residents of South Dade," said McGhee. "Together with Amazon, we’re opening doors for individuals and families, and this fulfillment center is a powerful reminder that South Dade is open for business and ready for the future."
