South Florida is gearing up for a vibrant celebration of Jamaican pride and heritage as the Jamaica 63 Independence Fete takes center stage this Friday, August 8, from 7 PM to 11 PM at the Vernon E. Hargray Youth Enrichment Center, located at 7000 Miramar Parkway.
Hosted by Commissioner Carson “Eddy” Edwards and Broward County Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis, the event honors the legendary Jamaican Sound System culture—the musical phenomenon that revolutionized dancehalls and shaped the global sounds of reggae, ska, and dancehall.
“It’s more than just a party – it’s a celebration of freedom, heritage, and community,” the organizers shared.
The night promises non-stop vibes, with musical selections from LP International with Puma, Supa Twitch, Glamour Wayne, and Tony Matterhorn spinning throughout the evening. Hosting duties will be handled by DJ Radcliffe, bringing high energy and pure Jamaican flavor to the mic.
