The City of Miramar announced today that they will be holding a community donation drive that will benefit the residents of Haiti who have been impacted by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake which struck the country on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

Officials of that country have expressed their need for assistance including items such as medical supplies, hygiene products and other general supplies to displaced citizens.

Donations are being accepted at any Miramar Fire Station daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Saturday, August 21, 2021 through Saturday, September 25, 2021.

Supplies will be shipped to Haiti through a partnership with the Global Empowerment Mission(GEM) and Accordia Shipping.

City Manager Vernon Hargray stated, “We stand with the residents of Haiti who have been impacted by yet another devastating earthquake. The city is committed to getting the affected individuals the much-needed supplies in the most expeditious manner. We have partnered with Global Empowerment Mission before following the volcano eruptions in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and they have proven to be a very reliable partner. We are also pleased to partner with Accordia Shipping who will ensure that the donated goods get to Haiti.”
