Miami’s Black Opera Singers Celebrate Black History Month with 'Art of the Spiritual Concert'

MIAMI, Florida - The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center (AHCAC) celebrates Black History Month with “Art of a Spiritual,” a music concert featuring Miami’s most accomplished Black opera singers performing African-American Spirituals on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.  The concert will be held in the Sandrell Rivers Theater, 6103 NW 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33127. Tickets can be purchased through their website at https://tickets.ftfshows.com.

The “Art of a Spiritual” concert highlights the technical complexity of the old “Negro Spiritual,” (also referenced in modern times as the “African-American Spiritual”) and celebrates the boldness of their ancestors while enlightening today’s generation. The concert features 15 songs performed by three of Miami’s Black opera singers: Kyaunnee Richardson (award-winning soprano), Angel Refusé (baritone), Erica Williams (soprano), Isis Roberts (mezzo soprano and AHCAC Music Department Director), the Voices of Heritage (African Heritage Cultural Arts Center Apprenticeship), and Karl Richardson (pianist).

Notably, Kyuannee Richardson counts among her highest honors singing for President Barack Obama and other dignitaries at the funeral of South Carolina Senator and Reverend Clementa Pinckney.

General Admission is $25 and tickets can be purchased at the Sandrell Rivers Box Office or online at  https://tickets.ftfshows.com/ Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m.  – 5:00 p.m.
