MetroConnect will continue to provide free on-demand service.

In a statement, the department said: "DTPW would like to thank all riders who continued to use transit services throughout this period. Your participation not only helped to reduce traffic, but also provided valuable insight into how the Department can continue to improve services."

The initiative involved a redesign of the transit system, which included the elimination of certain routes and the reworking of others.

Over a thousand bus stops were removed to streamline services and facilitate faster arrivals at the remaining 6,000 stops.
