Miami-Dade County will temporarily close the Financial District Metromover station beginning Saturday, October 24, to allow for switch upgrades as part of an ongoing project to modernize the transit system.

The county’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) said the closure is expected to last approximately five weeks, during which Brickell Loop service will operate on a modified route.

Trains will begin and end their trips at Brickell Metromover station, bypassing the Financial District station for the duration of the closure.

Riders are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional travel time. The closure schedule is subject to change, according to DTPW.

The switch upgrades are part of the broader Metromover Upgrade Project, which aims to modernize the system, improve service reliability and operational flexibility, reduce wait times, and extend the system’s useful life.

The improvements are intended to provide a safer and more dependable transit experience for passengers.

DTPW said it will post closure notices and signage throughout the Metromover system and share service updates through county websites, social media, email notifications and in-person outreach to riders.

Passengers can also receive updates through the GO Miami-Dade Transit app or by signing up for Transit Alerts.
