Men often delay routine medical checkups and preventive care, a habit health professionals warn can lead to late detection of serious conditions. In an effort to address that gap, the Jessie Trice Community Health System (JTCHS), in partnership with Mount Hermon Church, will host a Men’s Health Symposium in recognition of Men’s Health Month this June.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the JTCHS Barbara J. Jordan Health & Wellness Center, 20612 NW 27th Ave. in Miami Gardens. Organizers say the symposium will bring together healthcare professionals, faith leaders and community residents for a morning focused on men’s physical and mental well-being, preventive care and access to local health resources.

Attendees will be able to engage with medical experts, gather health education materials and participate in discussions aimed at encouraging men to take a more proactive approach to their health. Featured speakers include Dr. O’Neil J. Pyle, Dr. Elisee Jacques, Dr. Tim Tyler and Ashley Carter, MS, RD, LDN.

“This symposium is an opportunity to empower men with the knowledge, resources and support they need to take a more proactive approach to their health,” said Ryan R. Hawkins, president and CEO of JTCHS. He encouraged community members to help spread the word among family and friends.

The event is free, though registration is encouraged. Details and sign-up are available at Register here. More information about JTCHS services can be found at JTCHS.

JTCHS is a federally qualified community health center serving Miami-Dade County, offering services that include family medicine, dentistry, pediatrics, behavioral health, obstetrics and gynecology, nutrition, pharmacy and community health programs.
