Closing the gap at the top
Matthews’ rise is equally significant in the all-rounders’ rankings.
Already the world’s No. 1 T20I all-rounder, she has moved to a career-best 467 rating points in ODIs, narrowing the gap on Australia’s Ash Gardner.
Gardner remains at the top with 497 points, but Matthews is now only 30 points behind the Australian.
Her latest ranking surge reflects the consistency and scale of her contribution throughout the Zimbabwe series, where she combined substantial runs with her all-round responsibilities to drive West Indies to the series triumph.
Campbelle and bowlers also gain ground
Matthews was not the only West Indies player to benefit from the team’s successful campaign.
Wicketkeeper-batter Shemaine Campbelle made one of the biggest advances among the West Indies batters, climbing 15 places to 74th in the ODI batting rankings.
The bowling charts also featured several upward moves.
Afy Fletcher rose two positions to 17th, while Aaliyah Alleyne jumped eight places to 49th. Ashmini Munisar made the largest move among the trio, advancing 11 spots to 70th.
The collective improvement comes after a series in which West Indies successfully navigated Zimbabwe to claim a 2-1 victory, with Matthews’ extraordinary batting output providing the defining contribution.
For the captain, the latest rankings represent another milestone in an increasingly influential ODI career, while her continued position at the top of the T20I all-rounder rankings underscores her standing as one of the most accomplished players in the international women’s game.
