A man was shot and killed on Interstate 95 in Broward County on Sunday night, according to authorities. The Broward Sheriff's Office reported that the shooting occurred around 6:13 p.m. on the southbound lanes of I-95, just north of Oakland Park Boulevard.

First responders from multiple agencies, including BSO, Florida Highway Patrol, Fort Lauderdale Police, and Oakland Park Fire Rescue, arrived at the scene to find a man who had been shot multiple times, including a gunshot wound to the neck, according to fire rescue officials.

He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but did not survive, authorities said. The victim's name was not immediately provided.

The southbound lanes of I-95 were closed from Cypress Creek Road to Oakland Park Boulevard for several hours as authorities investigated the shooting, but they have since reopened. Many drivers were stuck in traffic during the closure.

Authorities questioned several individuals at the scene, and detectives were seen walking along the highway with flashlights, investigating what appeared to be a vehicle connected to the incident.
