According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, officers initially attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 100 block of Southwest 27th Avenue, but the driver refused to stop. Surveillance video has captured the moments leading up to a police-involved shooting in Fort Lauderdale, showing an officer firing on the man. According to Police Chief Bill Schultz, the preliminary investigation indicates that the driver exited the vehicle holding what appeared to be a firearm.
Police confirmed that the suspect was shot by one of the officers seen in the surveillance video. He was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
