Man detained for questioning in connection to  bomb threats in Jamaica

Jamaican law enforcement authorities have detained an individual for questioning regarding the series of bomb threats that have been recently made in the country.

The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was picked up during a police operation conducted on Friday evening.

Security teams respond to 45 incidents in 24 hours

The Ministry of National Security on Friday highlighted the unprecedented surge in bomb scare incidents, noting that law enforcement teams responded to a staggering 45 reported threats within a 24-hour period.

These incidents have targeted many institutions, encompassing schools, healthcare facilities, and court buildings across the region. 

The scale and diversity of targets have raised concerns among both authorities and the public.

All threats proven to be hoaxes

The National Security Ministry also confirmed that all reported threats were subsequently identified as hoaxes.
