Police in Miramar are investigating an incident on Monday in which a man was assaulted and his dog was stolen, following reports of gunfire in a residential area.

According to Miramar Police, officers were dispatched to the 12800 block of Southwest 30th Street after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. When they arrived, officers found shell casings at the scene.

Police said the victim reported being pistol-whipped by multiple suspects, resulting in injuries. He was evaluated by Miramar Fire Rescue and was not seriously hurt.

During the investigation, the man told officers that several individuals arrived at the location and took his French bulldog. Authorities later confirmed that the dog had been recovered.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
