Style, creativity, and philanthropy will collide in spectacular fashion on Monday, May 5, as South Florida gears up for the Legacy:Met Gala Red Carpet Experience at El Pama Tavern in Fort Lauderdale.

The exclusive event, running from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., promises an unforgettable evening inspired by this year’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

With the theme “Tailored for You,” Legacy will pay tribute to Black style, menswear, and the artistry of tailoring—while raising funds to support local community initiatives. Presented by title sponsors Cohen & Company Real Estate and Nelcia’s Natural Herbs, the event is set to attract South Florida’s fashion-forward creatives, influencers, and change-makers for a red carpet night steeped in culture and purpose.

Guests will be treated to a live red carpet screening of the NYC Met Gala, followed by performances from local instrumentalists and entertainers. The evening also includes showcases from South Florida’s top designers and artists, a silent auction featuring exclusive items from area businesses, and gourmet light bites paired with signature cocktails crafted by elite mixologists. The celebration will flow into an energetic after-party with music and dancing.

Three standout figures will be honored as co-chairs for their contributions to fashion, culture, and community: Commissioner Maxwell Chambers of the City of Miramar; Franklin Myrtle, a Lifetime Achievement Award-winning fashion stylist; and Kevin Nesbitt, a respected educator, entrepreneur, and cultural curator.

Behind the event are two dynamic women whose creativity and commitment to the community have made waves in both fashion and entertainment. Nyssa Powell, founder of Reignn Eyewear, is known for her innovative private label brand that blends craftsmanship and bold design. With roots in Abu Dhabi and a degree in Fashion Merchandising Business Management from Berkeley College in New York, Powell continues to use her platform to uplift emerging creatives.

She is joined by Stacy Rose, a Jamaican-born, award-winning actress, producer, and internationally syndicated radio host best known for her roles in Ballers, Life..., and Little America. Rose brings not only star power to the event, but also a passion for youth mentorship and community upliftment across the U.S. and the Caribbean.

With elegance, cultural pride, and a focus on giving back, the Legacy:Met Gala Red Carpet Experience promises to be one of South Florida’s most talked-about events of the season.
