MIAMI – A massive yacht caught fire while docked behind the Booby Trap on the River strip club early Sunday morning. The incident occurred at 3615 NW S River Dr. in Miami. The yacht, which was reportedly being rented by renowned music producer and recording artist Metro Boomin, eventually sank into the Miami River after the blaze.
Workers at the Booby Trap on the River club reported that the 95-foot yacht arrived around 3 a.m. Sunday. About 15 minutes after docking, someone noticed smoke coming from the vessel. Employees quickly sprang into action, helping to evacuate approximately 10 guests onboard, including Metro Boomin, along with another five boat workers.
Michael Marhefka, Director of Security at the club, explained, “Around 3 o’clock the boat arrived, it was Metro Boomin. The boat pulled up and they were on the boat maybe 30 minutes at the dock, and we noticed what sounded like fire alarms going off. When we looked at the boat, we saw smoke inside. We made the determination to evacuate the boat immediately.”
From around 3:30 a.m. onward, the yacht continued to burn, with firefighters working for hours to douse the flames using water and foam. At one point, they deployed a ladder truck to attack the fire from above. The yacht eventually sank into the Miami River just before 7 a.m. Authorities reported that the yacht remains in place, still tied to the dock, while crews now work on developing a plan to remove the charred wreckage.
There were no injuries reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
