Kabaka Pyramid announces deluxe version of Grammy-winning album 'The Kalling'

Kabaka Pyramid is releasing the deluxe version of his Grammy-award-winning album, The Kalling, and the first track which was released on Friday is the remix of Energy.

The remix features dancehall artiste Sean Paul alongside Jemere Morgan from the historic Morgan Heritage lineage. It is produced by the acclaimed Damian "Jr Gong" Marley.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Sean Paul shared, "Energy is a fundamental element needed to connect with people genuinely. The energy Kabaka gave me when we first met is one that stayed with me, reflecting how my music influenced him during his formative years. Working on this remix was truly uplifting, as Kabaka has swiftly made his mark in the music industry despite his relatively short time here."

The collaboration injects a fresh and dynamic perspective into the original track, elevating the brilliance of an already stellar album to new heights.

According to Kabaka Pyramid, "Energy is about safeguarding your vitality from those who seek to diminish your spirit. Collaborating with SP for the first time was a dream come true, given his profound impact on my musical journey. His remarkable verse exceeded my expectations, embodying humility and devotion to music, much like myself and Zilla. Jemere’s uplifting vocals infuse the track with a lively dynamic that resonates with enthusiasm."

The remix was accompanied by an exhilarating music video directed by the visionary Xtreme Arts.

The Kalling, a 15-track album, won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in February 2023. The other nominees in the Best Reggae Album category were Scorcha by Sean Paul, Com Fly Wid Mi by Shaggy, Third Time’s The Charm by Protoje, and Gifted by Koffee.

Released via Bebble Rock Music/Ghetto Youths International in September 2022, it was largely produced by Damian Marley. Seven of the tracks are co-produced by Sean “Young Pow” Diederick.

The Kalling peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. It featured collaborations with Buju Banton, Jemere Morgan, Tifa, Protoje, and Jesse Royal.
