PARIS, France — St. Lucia's Julien Alfred won the women's 100m gold medal with a National Record of 10.72 seconds for her country's first gold medal at the Olympic Games.

Alfred won comfortably ahead of American favorite Sha'Carri Richardson in 10.87 seconds, with the bronze medal going to fellow American Melissa Jefferson with 10.92 seconds.
