Journalist escapes gunfire in Guyana, GPA calls for investigation

The Guyana Press Association (GPA) has called for a comprehensive investigation into the recent shooting incident aimed at journalist Travis Chase.

According to reports, Chase found himself in the crosshairs of an unidentified gunman on Monday night.

History of targeting

GPA said that this is not the first time Chase has been targeted by unknown assailants. In June 2020, Chase’s vehicle was burnt.

No one was charged in this matter.

GPA urges swift action

With a resounding call for justice, the association is urging authorities to act swiftly in apprehending those responsible for the attack on Chase.

It further emphasized the importance of safeguarding journalists’ lives and their ability to pursue their livelihoods without fear of harm.
