Jordan Johnson replaces Kevlon Anderson in West Indies ‘A’ team for South Africa tour

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a change in the West Indies "A" Team squad for the ongoing tour of South Africa, with Jordan Johnson set to replace Kevlon Anderson.

Unfortunately, Anderson encountered difficulties with his visa documentation, preventing him from traveling to South Africa. As a result, Anderson will join the West Indies Academy team for their upcoming four-day matches against Emerging Ireland at the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG) in Antigua.

Johnson will immediately travel to South Africa and will be available for selection in the second and third four-day "Test" matches against South Africa "A". This opportunity comes at an opportune time, as it allows Johnson to gain valuable experience in South African conditions. The recent announcement by the International Cricket Council (ICC) that South Africa will host the ICC Men's U19 Cricket World Cup in January 2024 underscores the significance of Johnson's call-up to the "A" Team.

The West Indies "A" Team started their tour of South Africa on a high note, securing a thrilling one-wicket victory against South Africa "A" in the first "Test" at Willowmore Park in Benoni. Both teams will now move to East London for the second "Test" match at Buffalo Park, scheduled to commence on Tuesday, November 28, with the first ball each day at 10:00 am local time (40 am Eastern Caribbean/3:00 am Jamaica).

Meanwhile, the West Indies Academy kicked off their first-class series against Emerging Ireland at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Saturday, November 25.
