JN Money Services has partnered with cross-border payments company WapiPay to expand remittance options for Jamaicans and strengthen payment links between the island and international markets.

The partnership will allow WapiPay customers to send money to Jamaica for cash collection at JN Money locations across the country or have funds deposited directly into recipients’ local bank accounts.

Founded in Singapore in 2019, WapiPay operates from offices in Nairobi, Kenya, and Kampala, Uganda. The fintech company provides a digital platform that allows individuals, merchants and businesses to send money internationally.

WapiPay has established payment corridors across Africa, Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States and is now positioning Jamaica as a gateway to the Caribbean remittance market.

The partnership follows WapiPay's receipt of regulatory approval to operate in Jamaica earlier this year. The company will gain access to JN Money's established payout infrastructure, while JN Money will add another international partner to its remittance network.

Horace Hines, general manager of JN Money Services, said the agreement forms part of the company's strategy to expand convenient and reliable remittance services for Jamaicans and their families.

“We are deliberate about building strategic partnerships that expand the ways customers can send money to Jamaica while making the remittance experience more convenient, accessible and reliable,” Hines said.

“As customer needs continue to evolve and demand for digital financial services grows, we remain focused on identifying innovative solutions and strengthening our network to better serve Jamaicans and their families, wherever they are in the world.”

JN Money currently has a presence in 18 countries, including the Cayman Islands, Antigua, Guyana and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Hines said the WapiPay partnership could also help the company serve Jamaicans living in markets where the fintech firm already operates.

“As Jamaicans continue to build lives in new markets, including across Africa, Asia and other regions where WapiPay has established a strong presence, this partnership allows us to connect more of them with their families back home by providing another safe, convenient and reliable way to send money to Jamaica,” he said.

Josephat Nelson Mados, WapiPay country director for Jamaica, said the companies are positioned to improve payment connections between the Caribbean and markets in Africa, North America, the UK and Asia.

“Customers will benefit from a more efficient payment experience built around competitive pricing, faster processing, greater transparency and improved convenience,” Mados said.

He said customers will also have greater visibility into fees, foreign exchange rates, transaction status and settlement outcomes.

According to Mados, WapiPay has enhanced its platform to support automated payment routing, real-time transaction tracking, regulatory compliance, payment reconciliation, settlement tracking and partner reporting.

“These enhancements ensure the service is scalable, compliant, operationally efficient, and ready to support both individual and business payment use cases,” he said.

JN Money's other international partners include Mastercard Transaction Services, which supports cross-border remittances from the UK, United States, Canada and the Cayman Islands.

The company has also partnered with DHL Express in the Cayman Islands, allowing customers to remit funds through JN Money Services and ship packages through DHL.
