Dennis Chung, the General Secretary of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), expressed his appreciation for the significant progress made by the federation during the eventful 2023 football calendar.
The year witnessed an array of football activities in Jamaica, with both the Reggae Girlz and Reggae Boyz hosting a total of seven games between September and November.
Chung emphasized the magnitude of effort and resources required for organizing these events. He commended the dedicated staff and their tireless work in orchestrating games and mobilizing teams. Notably, the JFF invested approximately US $2 million in supporting the women's national team's journey to the World Cup.
Encountering some challenges
The Reggae Boyz hosted Honduras, Haiti, and Canada in CONCACAF Nations League A matches, while the Reggae Girlz welcomed Canada for an Olympic Qualifier and faced Guatemala and Panama in two CONCACAF W Gold Cup qualifiers.
Despite encountering some challenges, such as Visa issues for traveling parties, the JFF managed to navigate the year without major disruptions. Chung acknowledged these hurdles but stressed that they did not significantly hinder operations.
