Jamaican international Kevon Lambert returns to USL Championship with San Antonio FC

Jamaican midfielder Kevon Lambert is set to make a return to the United Soccer League (USL) Championship, joining San Antonio FC on a season-long loan from Major League Soccer's Real Salt Lake.

The 26-year-old, who previously represented Phoenix Rising, made three appearances for Real Salt Lake last year before making the move to San Antonio, pending league and federation approval.

San Antonio FC's head coach, Alen Marcina, expressed excitement about Lambert's addition to the team, stating, "We're thrilled to add current Jamaican international Kevon Lambert, and we're grateful to Salt Lake for facilitating the loan." Marcina praised Lambert's abilities, highlighting his dominance in the USL and how his skills align with the team's game model.

Lambert, known as one of the USL's top defensive midfielders, boasts an impressive track record, including 161 appearances for Phoenix Rising and notable contributions of 15 goals and 10 assists. His experience extends to the international stage, with 27 caps for Jamaica and appearances in multiple CONCACAF Gold Cups, including reaching the final in 2017.

Joining San Antonio FC, Lambert adds depth and quality to the midfield, as the team aims to build on their fourth-place finish in the Western Conference last season. San Antonio FC is gearing up for their season opener against Loudoun United on March 9, with a friendly against four-time Guatemalan champions Antigua GFC on Saturday.
