A Jamaican man was arrested following the seizure of an assault rifle and four rounds of ammunition during an operation on Tavern Drive, Kingston 6 on Sunday, January 22.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

According to police reports, at about 6:20 p.m., officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a group of males acting suspiciously.

The men were approached, and a bag seen in their area was searched. One Palmetto rifle with a magazine containing four 5.56 rounds of ammunition was found.

An investigation was launched and the owner of the bag was subsequently taken into custody.
