Jamaica sweeps prestigious tourism awards in Dubai

In a remarkable showcase of its enduring appeal as a travel destination, Jamaica emerged triumphant at the 30th World Travel Awards, held against the backdrop of the iconic Burj Al Arab in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

The event unfolded over the weekend, unveiling two prestigious accolades that underscored Jamaica’s status as a top-tier travel hotspot.

Jamaica receives two accolades 

Jamaica’s triumph at the awards ceremony was momentous as it clinched the titles of “World's Best Family Destination” and “World’s Best Cruise Destination.” 

The awards ceremony witnessed Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, renowned for his pivotal role as the founder and chair of the Jamaica-based Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC) ‘Think Tank,’ stepping onto the global stage to accept these distinguished honors on behalf of Jamaica. 

Global recognition for resilience and innovation

In addition to receiving the awards, Minister Bartlett played the role of a global ambassador by presenting five Global Tourism Resilience awards to prominent entities and nations. 

The audience, comprising government leaders, officials, global corporate executives, and travel industry stakeholders, bore witness to this exceptional recognition.

Prestigious awardees

The Global Tourism Resilience awards were bestowed upon those who demonstrated remarkable global leadership, visionary foresight, and innovative approaches to overcoming critical challenges and adversity. 

The inaugural recipients of these esteemed awards included Qatar, the Maldives, and the Philippines, countries that have shown remarkable resilience in the face of adversity.

In the corporate realm, two giants from the UAE claimed their place in the limelight. 

DP World, a formidable Emirati multinational logistics corporation specializing in cargo logistics, and Dnata, a globally renowned air and travel services provider offering ground handling, cargo, travel, catering, and retail services across six continents in over 30 countries, were celebrated for their unwavering commitment to the global tourism industry.
