Entering the tournament as the top seed in the Girls’ Under-19 division, Trehan lived up to every expectation with a flawless run to the championship.
In the final, she overwhelmed second seed Milanna Lamontagne of the Cayman Islands, needing just 27 minutes to secure victory in straight games, 11-1, 11-6, 11-6, and successfully retain her regional title.
The convincing triumph earned Jamaica its only gold medal of the championships and reaffirmed Trehan’s dominance at the junior level.
Doubles success adds to medal collection
Trehan’s work was far from over after lifting the singles title.
She joined forces with Elle Wilson in the Girls’ Doubles competition, where the Jamaican pair battled their way to the silver medal.
After an entertaining contest, they defeated Guyana’s Kayee Lowe and Emily Fung-A-Fat by scores of 11-6, 9-11, 11-9, adding another podium finish to Jamaica’s growing tally.
Wilson also enjoyed individual success.
Following a semi-final defeat to Trehan, she rebounded impressively in the third-place playoff to secure the Girls’ Under-19 bronze medal, ensuring Jamaica claimed two places on the singles podium.
Girls team delivers another podium finish
Jamaica’s strongest performances came from the girls’ squad, which accounted for four of the country’s five medals.
Trehan, Wilson, Marley Price, and tournament newcomer Julie Pagan combined to capture the Girls’ Team bronze medal, showcasing the depth of Jamaica’s emerging female talent.
Price also enjoyed an encouraging tournament, winning the Girls’ Under-15 consolation title, while Pagan gained valuable international experience in the Girls’ Under-11 division during her championship debut.
Miller surpasses expectations
The boys’ team also celebrated a standout individual performance through Ethan Miller.
Seeded fourth in the Boys’ Under-17 division, Miller exceeded expectations with an impressive run to the championship match.
His tournament ended against top seed Jayden George of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, who claimed the title with an 11-8, 11-4, 11-6 victory, leaving Miller with a well-earned silver medal.
Another promising newcomer, Jonathan Cherian, captured the Boys’ Under-11 consolation title, adding further encouragement for Jamaica’s future.
The boys’ delegation also included Max Henzell, Judah Tavares-Finson, Ethan Cherian, and Jaden Emery, each gaining valuable regional experience.
Regional powers hold their ground
At the conclusion of the championships, Guyana successfully retained both the overall country championship and the Girls’ Team title, while St. Vincent and the Grenadines celebrated a historic breakthrough by capturing the Boys’ Team championship for the first time.
Despite those results, Jamaica’s medal haul represented one of its strongest regional showings in several years and reinforced the nation's growing competitiveness across multiple age groups.
Optimism for the future
The Jamaican squad was guided by Jamaica Squash Association President Karen Anderson, who served as head coach, alongside assistant coach Julian Morrison, who recently completed the World Squash/PanAm Squash Level 2 Coaching Course.
Anderson expressed satisfaction with the team's overall performance and believes the results reflect the continued progress of Jamaica’s junior development program.
With an accomplished champion in Trehan, emerging talents such as Miller and Wilson, and several promising debutants gaining invaluable international exposure, Jamaica departed the British Virgin Islands with more than medals.
The performances offered compelling evidence that the country’s next generation of squash players is poised to challenge the Caribbean’s traditional powerhouses for years to come.
