Samuda also addressed the prospect of desalination as Jamaica seeks to strengthen its water supply, noting that the technology remains costly for the country at present.
The meeting also highlighted investment opportunities across sectors including environmental sustainability, water projects, land and real estate, agriculture, healthcare management, stocks and trading, film and creative services.
Johnson Smith also used the meeting to discuss Jamaica's participation in the UN General Assembly and the country's approach to international affairs.
Mair highlighted Johnson Smith's long tenure as Jamaica's foreign affairs minister, describing her service in the portfolio as unprecedented.
The town hall formed part of Jamaica's wider engagement with members of the diaspora during the UN General Assembly week, with officials emphasizing the country's ongoing development and opportunities for investment.
