Jamaica dominates Windward Islands in CWI T20 Blaze opener with convincing 7-wicket victory

In a commanding start to their CWI T20 Blaze campaign, Jamaica showcased their dominance with a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Windward Islands Women at Warner Park on Sunday.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Windward Islands posted a modest total of 117 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Openers Qiana Joseph and Jannilea Glasgow were the main contributors, scoring 56 and 37 runs respectively.

Chedean Nation was the pick of the bowlers for Jamaica, claiming 3 wickets for 19 runs from her three overs.

In pursuit of the target, Jamaica's batting line-up put on a clinical display, reaching the target of 118 runs in just 16 overs. Rashada Williams led the charge with a blistering 52 runs off 35 balls, setting the tone for Jamaica's victory.

Natasha McLean contributed 19 runs, while Captain Stafanie Taylor and Chinelle Henry remained unbeaten with 16 and 13 runs, respectively.

Windward Islands bowler Zaida James managed to pick up 2 wickets for 16 runs from her four overs, but it was not enough to prevent Jamaica from securing a convincing win in their opening match of the CWI T20 Blaze tournament.
