JAAA initiates plans to secure Olympic Qualification for Jamaica’s men’s mile relay team

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has officially announced its intentions to explore opportunities for Jamaica's men's 4x400-meter relay team to secure a qualifying spot for the Paris Olympic Games.

Discussions have commenced regarding the participation of the team in a meet scheduled for next month.

The targeted event is the New Life Invitational, scheduled to take place in the Bahamas on June 12. The JAAA views this meet as a prime opportunity for Jamaica's men's mile relay team to meet the qualification criteria for the upcoming Olympics in Paris.

While the availability of athletes for the event is yet to be confirmed, the association has assured that it will cover the expenses related to travel for the team. Jamaica's performance of 2 minutes, 59.34 seconds at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest currently places them just outside the top 16 countries eligible to field a team in Paris.

With the deadline for Olympic qualification set for June 30, Jamaica is actively working to secure its men's 4x400-meter relay team's participation in the prestigious event.
