Inadequate stadium lighting leads to rescheduling of Reggae Boyz-Dom Rep game

By Ian Burnett··1 min read

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has been compelled to reschedule the kick-off time for the Reggae Boyz’ World Cup qualifier against the Dominican Republic due to inadequate lighting at the National Stadium.

Originally slated for a 6:30 p.m. start, the match will now commence at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The decision follows a declaration from CONCACAF, the regional governing body for the sport, that the lighting at the National Stadium still fails to meet the required standards for evening matches.

Lighting issues at the National Stadium have been a known problem. Despite last-minute efforts by Independence Park Limited, the administrators of the stadium, to enhance the lighting, the conditions remain subpar according to CONCACAF’s specifications.

The rescheduling is a necessary measure to ensure the match can proceed without the complications posed by inadequate lighting.
