Guyana to officially open World Trade Centre Georgetown in October 2025

The World Trade Centre Georgetown (WTCG) will be officially declared open on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, marking a significant milestone for Guyana and the wider Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

The announcement was made through special invitations distributed to delegates attending the 55th annual General Assembly and Global Business Forum of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) in France.

The invitation, signed by WTCG Executive Chairman Komal Samaroo, welcomes global business leaders to the opening ceremony, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Centre’s headquarters, located at 44 High Street, Kingston, in the heart of Georgetown. Executive Director Wesley Kirton noted that the timing of the event—just one week ahead of the WTCA Members Forum in New York—was designed to accommodate international delegates planning to attend both gatherings.

The launch of WTCG comes at a time when Guyana is experiencing rapid economic growth, driven by developments in the energy sector, infrastructure, and a robust investment climate. Organizers say the Centre’s opening reflects not only Guyana’s expanding global role but also CARICOM’s broader ambitions to strengthen international trade and investment ties.

“WTC Georgetown stands as a symbol of Guyana’s—and the region’s—commitment to global commerce,” the invitation reads. It also highlights the business potential in sectors such as energy, tourism, mining, agriculture, agribusiness, and manufacturing, positioning Guyana as a hub for international partnerships.

WTC Georgetown is the first and currently the only World Trade Centre in the CARICOM region. While the official opening will take place in October, occupancy of the building is scheduled to begin in June. The two-day launch event will feature high-level speakers, including government officials, international trade experts, and business leaders, alongside a robust business program aimed at facilitating new connections and investments.
