Guyana Defense Force captain shot and killed

A Captain in the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), who served as the special assistant to the recently retired Chief of Staff, was shot and killed late Wednesday.

He has been identified as Rondel Douglas.

The police report that Douglas was using his private car to provide taxi services when he was attacked and killed.

According to reports, he was hired by a young man to be taken to the North Ruimveldt area in Georgetown where he was attacked by the man and an accomplice who shot him and fled in his vehicle.

The police have launched an investigation.
